Money and Banking 101

Bruce G. McCarthy's

Monetary Reality Seminar

The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy.
(John 10:10a)

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,
that thou shalt be no priest to me:
seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God,
I will also forget thy children.
(Hosea 4:6)

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom,
and the man that getteth understanding.
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver,
and the gain thereof than fine gold.
(Proverbs 3:13,14)

The social credit-ers:

Today there are a multitude of good resources for explaining the evils of debt-based money and fractional reserve banking. Most are in the "social credit" camp, advocating fictional credit-based money run as a "public utility" by government. The problem is that there cannot be "credit" without corresponding debt. Allowing certain people to create money out of nothing, while all others have to work for it, is fundamentally unjust no matter who the privileged parties are.

  • Web of Debt: Ellen Brown is currently queen of the social credit-ers. She has amassed a huge collection of material on the subject of banking, presented in a very readable way. While we don't believe government should have the power to create money, some ideas such as “state banks” have possible merit under the current monetary regime.
